SUMMARY:Vancouver Lake Half marathon
DESCRIPTION:Time: February 24th\, 2019. The Half Marathon Walk starts at 9:30 AM\, the Half Marathon Run at 10:00 AM and the 4 Mile Run/Walk at 10:30 AM. The races begin on Reiger Road in front of the Park. Walkers are only allowed to start at 9:30. The course officially closes at 1:15 PM (3:15 half marathon). The race will be limited to 475 entries due to limited parking. \nParking: There is limited parking so we strongly encourage carpooling. \nCourse: The course is very flat. It begins on Reiger Road in front of the park. You run north for 1.5 miles to the turnaround (look for reflectors in road). You come back south on Reiger road all the way past the park and turn right onto bike path. Follow bike path all the way to Frenchman’s bar. Turn around at the bathrooms. Follow the exact same route back to Vancouver Lake and to the same turnaround (at the reflectors). Run back on the left side of the road to bike path right past the park. Turn left onto bike path. Follow bike path to far north picnic shelter. The course will be well marked and there will be mile markers at each mile. Look for orange cone at each mile. \nPacket Pick-up: Packet pick-up will be on the day from 8:30 AM and ends at 9:45 AM. We will also have an optional packet pickup on Saturday\, February 23rd at Vancouver Lake from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. All packets that are not picked up by 10:00 am will become property of CCRC including the shirts. \nPre-Registration: Pre-Registration is $35 for the Half Marathon and $25 for the 4 Mile. \nClothing Check: There will be clothing check on Reiger road right by the start. Also\, you will running by clothing at the 3 mile mark. You can also drop your clothes off then. \nT-shirts: Tech t-shirts will be available for $15 (XXL are $18). The tech t-shirt made of moisture wicking material. \nAwards: Finishers medals will be presented to all half marathon finishers. Awards will be presented to the top six males and females in each division in the Half Marathon (including walk division). Awards ceremony is at 12:45 pm\, but you may be able to pick up your award early. Awards will NOT be mailed out. \nFinisher medals: Every finisher will receive a medal with the race logo. \nPort-a-pots: There will be 10 Port-a-pots at the start and finish. There will also be some along the course at mile 3\, 5\, 7\, 9 & 11. \nWater Stops: There will be water at mile 3\, 5\, 7\, 9 & 11. There will be no sports drinks. \nFood: Several CCRC members will be bringing home made cookies which this race is famous for. This is the third annual Sandy River Run! 3rd times the charm but I believe they all have been the charm I mean first and second Sandy River Runs have been successful and fun! \nHere is the race page for the Sandy River Run 5k and 10k for all up for the challenge of doing it twice! Here is a 100% Trail 100% local race that occurs the Saturday after you stuff your face with turkey\, tofurkey\, cranberry sauce\, stuffing\, and oh gravy\, Costco pumpkin pie!!! (My second fave food!). Now you can work all that off then go home for the best left overs of the year! Now for the important “deets”! \nEvent details: \n• Date: November 24th 2018\n• Check in time: 8:00-8:45 AM\n• Start time: 9:00 AM\n• Start location: Sandy River Trailhead (End of Marcy St)\n• Finish location: Sandy River Trailhead (End of Marcy St) \nCourse description: \nThis will not be your easiest 5k distance but it will be a great introduction to trail running. This will be a challenging but very fun course. It is being held in late November so it will most likely be a bit wet and muddy so please be very\, very careful. We will be eco friendly and this will be a cup-less race so even though it will be a bit wet and cold please consider having some water on your person such as a handheld. \nthe trail head of the Sandy River Trail. It continues on down the somewhat technical double track trail then you will turn left onto the Jim Slagel Loop Trail which is 100% beautiful single track. The course continues on this trail and comes to a junction to go right back onto the Sandy River Trail or continue left on the Jim Slagel Loop Trail which you will turn left to stay on. \nAs you continue on the very fun & beautiful forested single track gradually going down towards the Sandy River you will then connect back to the Sandy River trail and turn left down towards the River. You will continue going on down to the River and reach the beach of the River where this will be the turn around point. Make sure you go all the way to the beach for FREE race photos taken by Bucci Photography. You will then head back up the Sandy River Trail and not the Jim Slagel Trail you came down on. continue all the way up to the first Jim Slagel trail head you turned on. Then you will go do a shorter loop on the Jim Slagel Trail. 5k course is approximately 500+ ft elevation total. I am very pleased to announce these races. \nThis is the inaugural Oxbow Races where it’s nothing but sweet\, sweet winding trails through beautiful forest scenery that runs right by the Sandy River. These races are all within just 35 minutes from downtown PDX! Here you will be greeted with deer (a female deer\, oh deer!\, please don’t feed the deer) with beautiful yet somewhat challenging trails\, and excellent views of the Sandy River! Seriously this place is great! \nThe race is 100% trails with approximately 1\,000ish ft of gain in the 8 miler and about 500ish in the 10k. The trail is moderately technical at times\, but both distances are mostly runnable. People run these trails all the time\, including myself. \nA little bit about me… It is a goal/dream in my life to inspire others to get outdoors\, and active. I have received feedback from my other events from people saying that this was their first ever trail race\, that it was fun and beautiful\, and that they never would have known it was there if it hadn’t of been for the event.
